Minecraft
Minecraft is undoubtably one of the best games ever made and I'm very aware how common that opinion is. I love Minecraft and have recently gotten back into my 'two week Minecraft phase' Though I'm hoping it lasts longer this time.
My History With Minecraft
Minecraft Youtube
Minecraft holds many memories for me. I first heard of Minecraft in 2012 when I was only 11. I don't remember exactly where I had heard of it, likely a youtube recommendation. At first I ignored it but eventually I wanted to see what the hype was about. I serched for minecraft and found a build tutorial. The moment I saw how the game worked I was hooked! It wasn't long after that I found Stampy and he only cemented my love for the game! I watched him for hours and could honestly make an entire shrine just for his channel but I might do that later. I remember watching his trip to the moon and thinking it was a real thing you could do in the game! In the end Stampy was the only Minecraft Youtuber I became a fan of. I did watch a couple of other channels but I barely remember them and definetly couldnt find them again. Stampy began my obsession with this game!
The begining of my creative journey
You may read that title and wonder what this has to do with minecraft, well a lot actually. See when I was a kid we couldn't afford Minecraft so no matter how much I begged I couldn't play it. I could only watch Stampy. I tried to be satisfied with that but I was so hyperfixated on this game! Eventually I began drawing the mobs, making up stories of people getting trapped in the game, playing pretend minecraft, and even tried to make 3d minecraft cubes with notebook paper, colored pencils, and a dream! I made so many artworks for Minecraft and those were my first pieces of art ever! I also made up stories. The one I remember most was about two sisters getting sucked into the game and having to survive and eventually escape. I wrote an isekai long before i had ever heard of anime. All of this was my first try at art, game design, and writing. Minecraft will always be special to me for that.
Actually Playing
So I did eventually get to play the game. I played it first back when pocket addition first came out but I could only play the free trial. Still I loved that free trial and built a little cobblestone hut with a mineshaft in it. I was only stopped by the trial when i wanted to get a bucket and wasn't allowed to. It was years after that that I got to really play Minecraft for the first time on my Xbox 360. I have so much nostalgia for console Minecraft long before Java and Bedrock were a thing. 4J Studios really holds a special place in my heart. I remember finally getting to load into my own world and make whatever I wanted!
